燃料颗粒不是由树的高价值部分制成的。砍伐的树木的大部分可用部分变成了木材、纸张或其他人造木制品;树木和采伐加工剩余物主要是各种树木的桩、枝、根、叶等以及刨花、木屑、碎木等林业加工废弃物等资源,这部分原料是非常好的生物质燃料来源。存量丰富、潜力巨大、薪柴作为主要的生物质燃料,已经具有很长的利用历史,其热值较高,燃烧灰渣量小,我国曾发展过新炭林专门用于新柴生产。

生物质燃料颗粒—秸秆

我国另一大重要的生物质原料来源就是秸秆。秸秆和农业剩余物主要是农作物的秸秆、草类、壳类以及农副产品加工过程中的废渣等。我国是农业大国,每年有超过九亿吨秸秆的产出 ,在生物质资源中占非常大的比例。

目前国家实行的“秸秆综合利用”就是一个全面利用秸秆价值的方案,通过将秸秆还田、沼气化、饲料化等,能够进一步发挥秸秆的作用。通常秸秆直接燃烧会造成比较严重的污染,但是将秸秆加工成密度较高的颗粒,并使用燃烧炉进行燃烧时,它能够充分燃烧,并不会释放固体污染物,而剩余的草木灰也是非常好的无机肥料。
